Ottawa-Carleton Police Liaison Committee for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Communities

Sandy Beeman, a member of the board of directors of Pink Triangle Services, is the new Chair of the community-based Ottawa-Carleton Police Liaison Committee for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Communities.  He succeeds Steve Brown, who represented the AIDS Committee of Ottawa on the Committee.

Sandy was elected chair at the October meeting of the Liaison Committee.

On invitation, a representative of The Ottawa Citizen newsroom staff will attend the January 17, 2000 meeting of the Liaison Committee to discuss concerns about news coverage that "outs" victims of crimes who are gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgendered persons.  The meeting will be held at the main Ottawa-Carleton Regional Police Service station, 474 Elgin St., Room 204; it begins at 5:35 p.m.  Liaison Committee meetings are open to the public and closed to mainstream media.
